and Conditions of Certification: As part of the 21st Century Cures Act, Congress established seven conditions of certification for certified health information technology (IT). In December 2022, ONC released materials explaining two of those conditions of certification—the Communications Condition of Certification (“Communications Condition”) and the Application Programming Interface Condition of Certification (“API Condition"). These materials from ONC provide information about these two conditions of certification and describe required, prohibited, and permitted practices of certified health IT developers under the 21st Century Cures Act.
