(October 2024) We are pleased to announce that Fritz Verly Vernet, MD is the recipients of the ACP Inspirational Global Member Award.

The awards recognize distinguished achievements and are intended to acknowledge:ÌýÌý

  • Involvement with ACP and contributions beyond a single institutionÌý
  • Role modeling of innovation in clinical care, medical education, clinical research, public service, health education, and/or applicable contribution (e.g., mentorship of students, trainees, peers locally and globally; enhancing curriculum development; etc.). Ìý

  • Examples of such contributions include efforts to address health care disparities, initiation of educational programs geared to patients, or design of community-based programs emphasizing compassion and quality careÌýÌý

2024 Chapter Excellence Award Winner

(August 2024) We are pleased to announce that our chapter is in receipt of the Bronze Level of the 2024 Chapter Excellence Award! The award recognizes chapters that achieve basics in chapter management. In order to achieve the Chapter Excellence Award, chapters must meet 20 Bronze criteria. Criteria include such activities as being involved in advocacy activities (if applicable), communicating with members, having a chapter/regional scientific meeting along with a planning committee, having a sound financial structure in place, recruiting and advancing members and having an awards committee that identifies candidates for local or national awards. We would like to extend a special thanks to those chapter members who assisted us in all of these endeavors! For their hard work and dedication, we received this award.

(July 2024) Are you concerned about a practice or clinical issue or have an idea youÌýwould like to suggest? If so, you might consider submitting a resolution to your Governor or chapter council.ÌýÌý

Initiating a resolution provides ACP members an opportunity to focus attention at the ACP national level on a particular issue or topic that concerns them. Participating in the Board of Governors resolutions process provides the ACP grassroots member a voice and allows you to shape College policy that impacts the practice of internal medicine.ÌýÌý

Not sure how to begin drafting a resolution? Researching the College's position on an issue can give you a start. TheÌýACP Board of Governors Resolutions Guide for ACP MembersÌýis available to download and will help, too.ÌýThe GuideÌýwas created to provide members a short overview of the resolutions process essentials and highlights critical ACP online resources you must use.ÌýÌý

Once drafted, members must submit resolutions to their Governor and/or chapter council. Chapter council approval is required to move resolutions forward to ACP national. Although not official ACP policy, a resolution becomes property of the chapter once the chapter council approves forwarding it to national. (April 2024) The John Tooker Evergreen Awards Program provides opportunities to recognize the valuable contributions of ACP Chapters as they strive to enrich, educate, and engage membership.Ìý ACP awarded special recognition to our Chapter for their effort in implementing innovative programming,ÌýVirtual Regional Grand Rounds

Virtual Regional Grand Rounds

As a multi-country chapter, the Caribbean has leveraged online video-conferencing capabilities to host grand rounds highlighting medical residents from across the region. These quarterly grand rounds replicate those held at teaching hospitals with an expanded audience of physicians from over 12 Caribbean countries.ÌýÌýÌý

Member Feedback is Requested on Spring 2024 Resolutions

(February 2024) Twenty-one (21) resolutions will be considered at the Spring 2024 Board of Governors (BOG) Meeting. With the exception of Resolution 9-S24, which will not be debated because this resolution is slated for adoption as a reaffirmation, please review each resolution and then indicate your support or opposition by completing theÌýÌýby the deadline your ACP Chapter Governor has requested or by midnight March 13, whichever comes first.Ìý

Global Reception at Internal Medicine Meeting 2023

(March 2023)ÌýIf you’re attending IMM23, please join us at our global reception, to be held Thursday, April 27 from 7:30-9:00pm at HQ San Diego.Ìý

This reception, featuring live entertainment, is open to all international attendees and their guests, as well as other attendees who are interested in meeting with leaders from ACP and internal medicine societies from around the world.

Passing of Prof. Owen Morgan, MACP

(October 2020) It is with sincere regret that we announce the passing of Professor of Medicine and Neurology and former Dean of the Faculty of Medical Sciences at the University of the West Indies, Mona Campus, Dr. Owen Morgan, MACP on October 6, 2020. In 2016 Prof. Morgan was elected to Mastership of the »Æ¹ÏµÎµÎapp (ACP) in recognition of his significant contributions to the field of Internal Medicine. Prof. Morgan was a dedicated physician and teacher whose memory will live on in his students, his patients and his colleagues. Please join us in extending our deepest condolences to his family, loved ones, and friends.
