How Similar Are We?

"Cognitive dissonance" is a term I learned from a medical ethics course during my sophomore year of college. A Google search defines it as "the mental discomfort felt from holding two conflicting beliefs; or when your beliefs are inconsistent with your actions." During my psychiatry clerkship, I battled with this internal conflict more than on any other rotation, likely due to the nature of the field and presentation of its most ill patients.

Cracking the COVID-19 Vaccine Code: Analyzing Survival Odds - Are Vaccines the Key?

The COVID-19 pandemic caused by the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) has resulted in a significant number of cases and deaths worldwide. Vaccination is the most effective preventive measure against the disease. This study aimed to assess the mortality rates of COVID-19 patients in the United States and the effectiveness of Pfizer, Moderna and Johnson & Johnson vaccines in preventing mortality.

Eating disorders are common behavioral disorders associated with substantial psychological and physical morbidity and mortality. Persons with eating disorders frequently present to primary care providers, who may also be responsible for their general medical management.
